Protect and serve
Does the word have a different meaning to our security agents
Why do they always do the exact opposite of what they were trained to do?
Is violence and blind aggression a course our security agents are taught during training
Why do they all wear this badge of shame
From Police, SARS, Army, Navy, Air Force, FRSC, Man o war, security (gatemen) all of them, they all have one thing in common.. Rabid violence
Their first response to any problem is attack.... Why?
Are they at war with the ordinary civilian they swore to protect and serve?
I watched the video of the lady that was driving with a police officer lying down on her bonnet while the car was in motion
The lady is wrong, no doubt
But is the response right?
These security agents are expected to have undergone some form of security training
So when they go to the field and act unruly and uncultured, one begins to wonder about their training
When these men and women act out in ways even a mad man or an illiterate wouldn't, while trying to carry out their duties... It is shocking to say the least
Their continuous, unprofessional and bush rural response to urban problems is one of the mysteries and wonders of the world
Why would a sane man jump on the bonnet of a moving car
And in truth, oga where is your mask
The pregnant FRSC male officer that was screaming God punish you and even attempted to slap the lady after savagely tearing her plate number out of her car!!!
Who gave you the job?
Our security agents and agency must embrace a novel approach to this epidemic that has gone viral and remains unchecked all over the nation
Our officers need re-orientation, they need a course on customer relations and discipline
They need to smile more and probably the ministry of happiness Rocha's created is the solution to this uniform craze
They need to be trained to value and respect human lives
We understand the job comes with a burden not everyone can bear
But you weren't forced to join, you chose to, so we expect you to be disciplined enough to handle the responsibility.
The force is not an afterthought, it's not the last option... jobs that are often regarded as such are always trending for the wrong reasons... Eg... Teaching, police, army, pastor, security men in big organizations etc
We must have a system that is solely set-up to train and also punish erring officers in uniform only
This department would be solely responsible for checking the excesses of these guys so none of them goes unpunished when they display the unprofessional conduct they are known for.
It's not the answer, but it's a start
Let's start from somewhere, else the next revolution after the political one will be that of security and force.
