End Gender Favoritism

Its time we woke up to reality and call the proverbial tool by it's name...a spade!

It's time we addressed politics and political uncertainty with new ways to fight and take a stand!

Because the old way isn't working

It never did

If you do it the western way.

You will be arrested and tortured

Worse, you will be shot and killed

Your family will go hungry

Your parents will cry and mourn

No one will save you

After a while, no one will remember you

The world will forget about you

Hell..if you are not Hausa or a girl child, the world will probably not even hear about you.

This is the global reality

Our optimism is over reaching

The world would rather sympathize with the flood in France

Or the war in Palestine

Than the father who was shot in a peaceful political rally

The Christian girl child, kidnapped by Boko Haram and still remains in the hands of her captives, whereas her Muslim classmates have all been released.

The woman, beaten and killed by SARS operatives on their usual police brutality, a norm now

The fear of the men in black is even worse than armed robbers!!!

Gone were the days you see a police van or uniform and felt safe

Now the sight of the Nigerian Police force inspires fear and sick hate, even for the innocent.

More for the innocent even.

The innocent now has evey reason to fear.

Our police force and military don't value human lives

They will waste you and be posted to the North to fight book Haram, and be killed.

The government won't even mourn you.

The world doesn't care about Nigeria or Nigerians

Except it's for bad news

And you know what they say...bad news is good news

Now the only good thing we are known for is bad news

Nigeria is a rotten carcass

The stench is being smelt in other countries

Go to Ghana, Nigerians are busy kidnapping and robbing.

Go to Dubai, Nigerians are robbing and pushing drugs.

Go to Malaysia, the story is the same.

India, South Africa, US....Every fucking where.

Causing trouble every where they go...like the MTN slogan.

Optimism is an idea...a bad illusion

We are all afraid of reality

Cos the truth is bitter

It's hard to swallow

It's hard to take in

The country is now in a state of hopelessness

It thrust you forcefully and painfully, over and over again till you are bruised and you bleed.

Where a man rapes a "TWO DAYS" old baby

And another man beheads four children for money

Another butchers his own son for rituals

Yet another kills a girl for pepper soup

The list is endless.

At the end, greed for the good life is at the center

The irony is, life is never good!

Let's go back to the beginning

Men!

We raise men to be champions when they didn't ask for it

We raise men to be Hercules, when they didn't ask for it

Expectations are so high, they have to climb the devil's back to meet societal demands.

It's time to raise men differently.

It's time the boy child be given the attention he so craves.

The attention that has been denied the boy child has to be returned.

This time around, a new narrative must be set.

Responsibility must be shared equally.

Favoritism must end

#End_gender_favoritism!

It's okay to cry and be weak sometimes

You aren't man of steel

You are just a boy with a beautiful heart

Either we return humanity back to the boy child.

Or tomorrow, we have a man explaining how Gorilla swallowed millions under his watch.

Expecting us to believe it...why?

Because we believed he was Man of steel when he was only just a boy.

  1. "Optimism is a bad illusion"
Especially when Nigeria is the focus of the optimism. Anytime you think you wouldn't be surprised by the system that is so oppressive, it shocks you right back in the face.
It's the sad reality that a person has the misfortune of experiencing in this country

Solomon's Lair!

Rated 18 Solomon's lair  I almost refused to go for the birthday party this year. Solomon always hosted a party every year, and as usual, I always gave the opening speech and acted as the MC too. I hated the drama and fake smiles all around. Each year, new faces present, old faces absent. New Friends present, Old friends lost, only me stagnant. I was always present as the best friend, the loyal soldier, meanwhile I was notoriously known for not celebrating my own birthday. It was so bad that most of my friends didn't even know my date of birth, just my age. Yes, it was that bad! It was an exhausting exercise for me. The cake and speeches, by God I hated the hypocrisy. So this year I swore to him by the old gods and new, that I wasn't gonna be in the spotlight of his special day. I just wanted to drink and chill quietly in solitude. Surprisingly, without any fuss, he obliged me. ''Obi is now a man o'' I smiled. ...

I hate my Job

Warning: Strong adult content 18+ I hate my job My boss, Miss Patricia, is a tyrant 40+, beautiful angelic face and even more perfect body, with a lovely smile, that she hardly uses, single mom of two beautiful teenage girls, whose pictures are hung everywhere in our offices. While her exterior is sweet and beautiful, her interior is dark and evil. Always barking orders at the rest of us, like children, her voice is so loud you wonder where she has the energy to scream in such a high note all the damn time She is so feared, her car horn is enough to immediately drown whatever noise or laughter is coming from the entire building The popular saying among us, her staff members, is that the fear of Patricia's horn is the beginning of wisdom I spent years searching for a job in the streets of Lagos, begging even, embarrassed by security men and spat at by lousy and saucy receptionists, to quit this one just like that. We die here! I was prepared to eat shit for as long as I could, so I ...
