The Country we have been Given

These days you can't even put on the TV without almost having a heart attack
Or going to bed peacefully, you are most likely to have a nightmare as soon as you put on your data
The amount of bad news we feed on daily is enough to make someone fat with fright
What really is going on?
No one, nowhere, is safe anymore
The world has suddenly become a global minefield
One wrong step and you are blown away.... literally
Imagine sleeping, dreaming with your wife and kids in the other room, suddenly you never wake up again...only to wake up on the other side
That was the case of a husband and his beautiful wife who died in the Lagos pipeline/bomb explosion
Isn't it almost funny in a dark way that the 3rd world countries have suddenly become the safest, since the Coronavirus epidemic?
Yet, it takes one explosion to change everything
One accident to ruin that split second hope
One police brutality to wake you up!
One Fulani herdsmen attack or Boko Haram insurgency to ruin your dinner and face reality
No matter how bad things get in America, Asia or Europe, Africa can never be better
America at its worst is a billion times better than Nigeria at her best!!!
Even with the epidemic ravishing and ravaging the whole of Europe, Asia, and America
Bring a plane here now and Nigerians would still Jump in to escape the Nigeria of our youth
Because it is better to die in a developed country
Than live in the Nigeria of our youth
A country that kills its young
And rapes its own
I saw a video of a promising young footballer who died after colliding with an opponent in the football field
something that happens every time, in every match played in the Premier League and La Liga
But a young promising footballer died because nobody could perform CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
I watched as good Samaritans kept on suffocating the boy by crowding him, using a jersey to fan him and beat his chest in an attempt to revive him
In their ignorance and panic, they worsened the murder the system started
Because there was no medical personnel available for a supposedly professional football match
No health care available in a football field
No doctor or nurse available in a football club match
The poor boy died because nobody was qualified enough to give him mouth to mouth because we are so far behind
America at 5 years is more progressive and developed than us in the next 1000 years
Now the explosion in Lagos State... Or bomb...who can tell these days what is real and what is surreal
24 hours later and our president hasn't said a word
Yet, one senator will propose a bill that will ban the use of generators in a country where power is as weak as a kidnapped man's erection, and still earn millions as salary every month for this wonderful idea
The governor had to take pictures and fly all the way to Aso Rock to show Mr. President the extent of the damage
He can't fly from Abuja to Lagos to sympathize with his citizens
But let the Corona-virus end today and he will fly out to meet and greet the Chinese people
Better still, slaughter one cow, and see him in tears and pain
Let one cow fall and see how hard his erection will rise
The same erection that never rises to the occasion when lives are lost, would become Rock solid when a cow gets burnt
This is the country we have been given.
